Happy Holidays and Happy Summer Vacation - to you!

We are all eagerly looking forward to our vacation. Too bad it's not as long as yours! We've had a great time talking to you and getting to know you. Feel free to keep contacting us on the blog! It's always here, even if you aren't!

A Picture is worth a thousand words

We just loved your photos from school! You have the best gym ever and a waterfall, too! You are so lucky to be in such a beautiful place. Are you near the rain forest? What exactly is "the Bush?"

Joe took these pictures around our school and Jamestown to share with you, and I've made a slideshow of them. I forgot to take the cat picture out - that is Mrs. Casey's cat Merl, the Wonder Cat. Click here to see other pictures of Jamestown. We put some comments to help explain a little about our town and customs.

This link explains a little bit about Jamestown - 9 miles long, 1 mile wide, full of love!
Jamestowners: here is a link that will tell us about Rotorua. Maybe our friends in Room 10 can give us more connections so we can learn more about you!

Two Heads are better than one!

Hi Everyone,
One of our favorite things to do at school now is to come to computer lab to...well, to visit with you! That's what it feels like. We are getting to know you better and hope you are getting to know us too! We will be posting pictures of our school and ourselves so you can see us and where we live.

Want to play a word swap game? We have noticed that while we speak the same language, we use different words to describe the same thing - like you have good mates while we have good buddies. This made us think it might be fun to swap idioms. Here are ten from us, see if you can guess what they mean:

The cat got your tongue Face the music
Be a wet blanket Lose your shirt
Spill the beans Feeling blue
Horse around Let sleeping dogs lie
Knock your socks off Smell a rat

Well, break a leg!

Welcome to our New Friends from Rotorua

This is a picture of Beavertail, one of our state parks located on Jamestown. People hike, saltwater fish, boat, picnic - even get married (one of our teachers did, last summer). It's a nice place to picnic, rollerblade, play frisbee, all kinds of fun things.

This is a picture of our school:

Our school is located next to an ancient Narragansett burial area. We walk, skateboard, bike to school as well a being driven by bus or car. We are so excited to hear from you!! We have tech ed on Thursdays, so that is the time we definitely will get a chance to send you some photos, videos or slide shows. I don't know if we can skype - I think NZ is 18 hours ahead of us but maybe we can figure something out! Peace out, your friends in the 4th grade in Rhode Island, USA.

Welcome to the new school year in Tech Ed

Hello students! This year we will be doing interesting projects, expanding our technical skills, learning a lot about science and sharing our work with other students!

We are going to visit New Zealand and look at their blog and leave appropriate and complimentary comments. Did you know that New Zealanders are called Kiwis? I guess we should be known as Quahogs! Did you know that if I was fooling you, here in the states I'd be "pulling your leg". In New Zealand, they'd say "Get off the grass". Hmmm, which is more strange? Maybe we can trade some idioms to start with - okay, sprogs? Be like a box of Budgies!

Reading Rainbow

I am storing the reading rainbow opening for a project....do any of you remember it? It ran for 26 years on PBS, the third longest running show behind Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. Take a look, it's in a book....Click on the video for a better view.
